We at Ponca Jazz Records proudly present George Mesterhazy,
and when he said he wanted his last album to be released outside of The U.S. through us - what an honor.
This is a beautiful, playful, melancholy and warm recording from one of the leading jazz pianists - no wonder he was Shirley Horn's favorite ajzz pianist.
Jazz painist George Mesterhazy has had a diverse career as an accompanist for a broad spectrum of people including headliners like:
Jaye P. Morgan, Benadette Peters, Anthony Newley, Jack Jones, Bobby Rudell, Chita Rivera; comedian Billy Crystal (who has a strong foundation in jazz himself).
Mesterhazy has also been working with jazz personalities like:
Gary Burton, Rebecca Parris, Fran Jeffries, Mark Murphy, Clark Terry, Phil Woods, Steve Gilmore, Red Holloway, Bill Berry, Franky Capp, Les Paul, Karrin Allyson.
He performed nationally and abroad with jazz legend Shirley Horn until she passed away in 2005.
